Shmuel Elbaz - conductor , arranger  and Israeli mandolin artist.

Biography 


Elbaz was born and raised in Beer Sheva . He is a graduate of the Beersheba Municipal Conservatory , the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in the performing and conducting faculties , and the Academy of Music in Amsterdam .

Attended winners Mandy Roden , Stanley Sperber , Lior Schmedel , Peter Atwash , David Forslein and Roland Kift. Conducted on the new Amsterdam Chamber Orchestra and the Harlem Symphony .

Between 2002 - 2014 he served as musical director and principal conductor of the Israel Andalusian Orchestra , together with whom he won in 2006 at the Israel Prize for contribution to the society and the state in the field of culture . Elbaz appears as conductor and soloist mandolin in many countries around the world and with most of the major Israeli orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra , the Israel Chamber Orchestra , the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra , an ensemble of the 21st century , the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion , the Israel Sinfonietta Be'er Sheva , Ashdod Symphony Orchestra , Symphony Fresh ,The Israeli Stage Orchestra and more.

Elbaz works as a processor and orchestrates many musical productions and recordings

for many orchestras, singers and artists. Elbaz formed and musically co-directed the Karman Quartet Mandolin Quartet. In August 2003, he won first prize with his quartet in a prestigious international competition for Percussion Instruments , held in La Rioja , Spain . Elbaz has recorded the sonatas and partitas for violin solo by Johann Sebastian Bach recording of the world premiere, mandolin and violin sonatas cycle from Mozart recording of the world premiere mandolin. The recordings gained a great deal of interest and play on radio stations around the world. In 2000 , Elbaz initiated the "International Festival ofPlucked Strings "in Be'er Sheva, and also served as artistic director. In 2007 he won Beersheba excellence in the field of music. In 2005 - 2002 he was a lecturer at Haifa University Department of Music and the Department of interdisciplinary studies, and the subjects he taught music theory and orchestration. In 2004 , he founded the Netivot School of Music , and has been running it ever since. Engages in education for excellence and fostering centers of excellence in the Negev. Elbaz has lectured in the Excellence in Education Unit at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev , and from 2011 he is a lecturer and faculty member in the Department of Voice and Screen Arts at Sapir Academic College .

Elbaz serves as Associate Musical Director of the Netanya Orchestra - the Kibbutz Chamber from the 2016 - 2017 concert season . In July 2016 , Elbaz conducted the Israeli Symphony Orchestra Rishon Lezion in a special concert of Andalusian music in classical arrangements. It was the first time in the country and in the world where Andalusian music is played by a symphony orchestra . Following the success of the concert, they decided to perform in the first orchestra to mark a series devoted entirely to this musical style called "Andalusia with love".
